The Winnipeg Folk Festival works hard to engage the Aboriginal music community each year. It's festival programming includes a traditional welcoming ceremony led by local Elders for Indigenous and international artists along with a number of performances and workshops led by exceptional Indigenous artists from North America and around the globe. The organization also provides complimentary passes to Aboriginal organizations in Winnipeg so that youth from low-income neighbourhoods can participate in the festival.
