Inez Jasper, Iskwé among Aboriginal artists nominated for the 2014 WCMA
Inez Japser, Iskwé, Desiree Dorion, marijosée, Head of the Herd, Federal Lights, and Cassidy Mann have picked up nominations for the 2014 Western Canadian Music Awards. The announcement was made at a press conference in Winnipeg on June 4, 2014.
British Columbia-based rock duo Head of the Herd leads to way for the Aboriginal nominees with chances to win in the Aboriginal Recording of the Year and Rock Recording of the Year categories.
Iskwé's self titled release is in the running for Electronic/Dance Recording of the Year and marijosée's Pas tout cuit dans l'bec is up for Francophone Recording of the Year.
The Aboriginal Recording of the Year category includes releases by three Manitobans (Cassidy Mann, Federal Lights, and Desiree Dorion) along with BC's Inez Jasper and Head of the Herd.
The WCMA is produced by the Western Canadian Music Alliance and will anchor the BreakOut West conference, which is set for October 2 - 5 in Winnipeg. The awards will be handed out at a gala event on October 5.
