Métis fiddle, Aboriginal rock on the menu for lunch hour concerts

June 11, 2014

Darren Lavallee

Aboriginal Music Week is excited to be partnering with the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ on two free lunch hour concerts at Air Canada Park in Winnipeg.

Métis fiddle legend Darren Lavallee will be joined by a square dancing group for the first concert on June 25 and Aboriginal rock band The Mosquitoz will entertain the lunch hour crowd on July 16.

"This partnership helps us build momentum for our festival in August,” says Alan Greyeyes, chairperson of Aboriginal Music Manitoba, the organization that produces Aboriginal Music Week. "We have Lavallee and The Mosquitoz booked for Aboriginal Music Week this year, so the concerts also provide a sneak peak of everything we have planned."

The two performances are part of the Downtown Concert Series being produced by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. The series runs June 4 until August 27 and starts at noon every Wednesday.
