Call for Submissions: Youth and community music at Aboriginal Music Week 2015

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 4 PM CST on Thursday, March 26, 2015

Aboriginal Music Manitoba will be producing the seventh annual Aboriginal Music Week in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and the organization is currently accepting applications from First Nation, Inuit, Métis, Native American, and Indigenous youth and community members who don't have professional music releases or promotional materials (websites, photos, videos, etc.).

The festival is set for August 18 - 22, 2015 and the organization plans to present at least two youth and community artists at each of our four big community celebrations (eight performance spots available).

Artists will be offered performance fees but travel funds and hotel rooms will not be available.

The Aboriginal Music Week programming committee will be reviewing all submissions in April. Only successful applicants will be contacted.

To be considered for a performance spot, you must:

  • Be 12-years-of-age or older
  • Live in Winnipeg or have a parent/guardian who is willing to bring you to Winnipeg for the festival
  • Have at least one video on YouTube or Vimeo for our committee to watch
  • Be able to perform on stage for at least 25 minutes
  • Be willing to participate in our networking dinners during the festival
  • Be a nice person
