We support collective efforts to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic and we have decided to push the sākihiwē festival back to the last weekend in August. Everything is now set for August 28-30 instead of our original dates in June.

We feel strongly that the arts have the ability to make the world a better place and the words and music of Indigenous people are needed now more than ever. We're very fortunate to have the support of incredible teams at the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata CentreKa Ni KanichihkCentral Neighbourhoods Winnipeg, and the Spence Neighbourhood Association who are on board to make the sākihiwē festival work for Indigenous families, Indigenous artists, fans of live music, and our supporters, when the time is right.

Our festival will feature performances by 22 Indigenous acts from across Canada. It will begin on Friday, August 28 with our ticketed Grand Entry concert and include free outdoor block parties at Central Park, Ka Ni Kanichihk, the Turtle Island Neighbourhood Centre, and the Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre. We plan to announce the full festival details at the end of May.

Like our friends at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, we will follow all official directives from the government and health authorities.

We also recommend you follow the guidelines provided by Manitoba Health and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
