Martin Desjarlais

Martin Desjarlais was born into a musical family and discovered his love for country music at a young age. He grew up listening to his father and aunts who were part of the Indigenous music circuit throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr. and Sr. are some of Martin’s inspirations along with singers like Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks and Dwight Yoakam. These are the artists that have guided his path to a REAL•COUNTRY•MUSIC sound. Martin started in the industry playing drums in various bands 15 years ago. He’s honored to have had opportunities to back up some of the biggest names in Indigenous music with the likes of Ernest Monias, Cweed, Stevie Salas, Keith Secola and The Mosquitoz just to name a few. During the pandemic while the global music industry was at a standstill, Martin began focusing on writing, recording and releasing his own music. His debut single “My Girl” is a feel-good, upbeat country rock song about the fun of being young, wild and free and spending time with a beautiful woman. The single will be released on June 1, 2023 and will be available on all streaming platforms, radio and satellite radio. Martin is proud to be a family man and has three sons-Sampson, Marrick and Miller with his wife Shaneen.
