- 2013 NAMMY winners announced Jana Mashonee, Fawn Wood, Ali Fontaine, and Francois Couture (Yahndawa’) took home trophies from the 14th Annual Native American Music Awards on Friday, May 10. The ceremony was held at the Seneca Niagara Hotel & Casino in New York and Edmund Bull, Big River Cree, and hoop dancer/flutist Tony Duncan were among the performers.
- The Stage 49 lineup - Gathering of Nations Quese IMC, The Black Owl Society, Native Roots, and 15 other bands and DJs are set to perform at Stage 49 during the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque, New Mexico this weekend. The entertainment begins on Friday, April 26 and includes several dance demonstrations, comedy, and a fashion show curated by Beyond Buckskin's Jessica Metcalfe.
- First group of artists announced for Aboriginal Music Week 2013 Derek Miller, Digging Roots, Wanbdi, Ghostkeeper, the C-Weed Band, Indian City, and Arthur Renwick will be performing at Aboriginal Music Week this year. The festival will include six free concerts and four ticketed nightclub events. A total of 25 bands will be participating and it all happens in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
- Nightclub listings for the GON weekend The Tone Def Sirens, A Tribe Called Red, Quese IMC, George Leach, DJ Kiss, Miracle Dolls, The Black Owl Society, and 36 other bands, MCs, and DJs are set to take over a number of nightclubs in Albuquerque, New Mexico during the 30th annual Gathering of Nations (GON) this month. These events aren't a part of the official GON programming, but they're definitely an integral part of the weekend experience for music lovers taking in the pow wow.
- A Tribe Called Red touring in support of second album A Tribe Called Red is hitting the road this summer in support of their second album. The boys have announced 28 dates so far, including stops at The Great Escape Festival (UK), The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (USA), The Squamish Valley Music Festival (CAN), and the Winnipeg Folk Festival (CAN).

- Aboriginal artists at JUNOfest 2013 George Leach, Don Amero, Donny Parenteau, and more than 100 other bands are set to take over most of the music venues in Regina, Saskatchewan for the JUNO Awards' music festival this year. The annual event, dubbed JUNOfest, begins on April 19 and lasts two nights.

- Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards deadline The submission deadline for the 2013 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards is May 17, 2013 at 6pm (CST). The entry form and the rules and regulations are available for download.
- The Red Man Laughing Podcast hits the road Leonard Sumner, Nick Sherman, and Conway Kootenay are hitting the road with comedian Ryan McMahon for the The Red Man Laughing Podcast Tour this month. The group has plans to visit Ontario in April, but the first leg of the tour starts March 21 and includes five dates in Winnipeg, Brandon, La Ronge, Saskatoon, and Regina.
