DJ Javier Estrada

Originating from Monterrey, Nuevo León in Mexico, DJ Javier Estrada is an electronic music producer with a gigantic catalogue that features self-styled genres like "prehispanico," "nativo americano pow pow power," and "trap-tribal."

"I believe that in order to create [music] one has to look back," explains Estrada in an interview with the MTV Iggy blog. "I think we have a genetic code where these sounds come from within – it’s something that’s inside our own organisms, to put it that way. So, to hear these sounds that were made thousands of years ago makes us feel things again and that’s exciting."

Estrada has performed at a number of Latin American festivals, including Nrmal, Festival Marvin, and the legendary Vive Latino in SOL Mexico City. He has also shared a bill with A Tribe Called Red in New York City and counts Diplo's Mad Decent record label as one of his key supporters.
