A Tribe Called Red collaborator coming to Aboriginal Music Week

July 8, 2014

Lido Pimienta

Lido Pimienta is a recording artist of Indigenous ancestry who carries an extraterrestrial energy, similar to that of Tanya Tagaq or Bjork. Her family roots are in La Guajira, a north-eastern region of Colombia, and she recently wrapped up a tour and a number of recording sessions with festival favourites A Tribe Called Red.

Pimienta will take the stage twice during Aboriginal Music Week 2014, with her first appearance set for Saturday night at the Cube in Old Market Square. Her second performance is scheduled for Sunday, August 24 at the Spence Neighbourhood Block Party. Both concerts are outdoors and free.

Pimienta is as empowering as she is creative. Audiences can expect everything from electronic heavy beats to out-of-this-world Afro-Indigenous chanting from her live performances along with thought provoking banter and the energy of conviction in between songs.

You definitely have to see her perform!
