The Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) is partnering with Aboriginal Music Week to add two big nights of music to the festival this summer. The concerts, dubbed "Indigenous Music Without Borders," are set for 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on August 22 and 23 at The Cube in Winnipeg's Old Market Square.

“APTN is pleased and honoured to co-host “The Indigenous Music Without Borders concerts,” said APTN Chief Executive Officer Jean La Rose. “I invite everyone to come down to the Cube to be part of these exciting nights of entertainment that will celebrate incredibly talented Aboriginal artists from across the country.”

Both concerts will feature performances by Indigenous artists who are creating music that crosses almost all musical and physical borders. JUNO Award winners George Leach and Leela Gilday are anchoring the Friday night. They'll be joined by up-and-coming Six Nations guitar slinger Logan Staats. Saturday night will kick off with a performance by champion drum group Spirit Sands Singers. They'll be followed by Colombian music maverick Lido Pimienta, JUNO Award winners Burnt-Project 1, and Anishinabewin hip hop emcee Tall Paul. Alaska-born electronic music producer Astronomar is on board to entertain the audience in between performances on Saturday night.

"APTN supports so many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis musicians each year with its Aboriginal Day Live events, its sponsorship and broadcast of the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, and all the exceptional television programs it airs," says festival chairperson Alan Greyeyes. "We're really excited to be one of the events that APTN believes in and supports."
