Edward Prince's legacy to take center stage in Honour Song
Honour Song Finale – William Prince Tribute (English)
William Prince will pay tribute to his late father Edward in the season finale of Honour Song. Presented by the sākihiwē festival and the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom, the hour‐long conversation will broadcast for free on the sākihiwē festival’s YouTube and Facebook channels on December 1 at 7:00 p.m. GMT / 1:00 p.m. CST (set a YouTube reminder / RSVP on Facebook).
"I've seen William go from the JUNO Award stage in Ottawa in 2017 to record deals and international tours in a short period of time," explains Alan Greyeyes, Festival Director for the sākihiwē festival. "He's a wonderful songwriter who puts audiences at ease. I'm really looking forward to learning more about his father and the influences behind his new gospel album."
iskwē paid tribute to the iconic Kinnie Starr in the first episode of Honour Song, PIQSIQ honoured the esteemed Susan Aglukark in episode two, and Elisapie acknowledged both the Sugluk Band and Willie Thrasher in episode three.

About William Prince
William Prince is a premier blues guitar slinger and frontman who earned his rambunctious, no‐frills approach to the guitar as a teenaged side player for Martin Tuesday and the legendary Feathermen band.
Over the course of his 50+ year career, Green has earned three JUNO Award nominations and two trophies from the Aboriginal People's Choice Music Awards for his solo work.
About sākihiwē music Thursdays
sākihiwē music Thursdays was launched on February 2, 2021 with the financial help of the Safe at Home Manitoba program. The project brings recorded performances by Indigenous artists to Indigenous families both online and offline.
In its first round, Inuit throat singer Nikki Komaksiutiksak, country singer Desiree Dorion, the legendary C‐Weed Band, mezzo‐soprano opera singer Rhonda Head, singer/songwriter Billy Simard, fiddle master Patti Kusturok, and hip hop artist Mattmac entertained audiences.

William Prince rendra hommage à son défunt père Edward dans le dernier épisode de la chanson d’honneur. Présenté par le festival sākihiwē et le Haut-commissariat du Canada au Royaume-Uni, l'échange d'une heure sera diffusé gratuitement sur le site YouTube du festival sākihiwē et sur leurs canaux Facebook le 1er décembre à 19 h GMT / 13 h 00 CDT (fixer un rappel YouTube / RSVP sur Facebook).
"J'ai vu William d’aller de la scène des prix JUNO à Ottawa en 2017 à enregistrer des contrats et des tournées internationales dans un délai assez court de temps", explique Alan Greyeyes, directeur du festival sākihiwē. "C'est un auteur-compositeur merveilleux qui met le public à l'aise. J'ai vraiment hâte d'en savoir plus sur son père ainsi que sur les influences et les motivations derrière son nouvel album de gospel."
