Call for Proposals: Promotions Partner for Thursday night at Aboriginal Music Week 2012

Aboriginal Music Manitoba is currently accepting proposals from independent music promoters for a concert in Winnipeg on Thursday, November 1, 2012 during the Aboriginal Music Week 2012 festival. The successful applicant will receive production and marketing support from the festival along with the freedom to program the artists and entertainment of their choice.

The venue has already been booked and it holds 400 people, is open from 9pm-2am, has in-house PA and lights, serves alcohol, and requires photo ID for all guests.

The promoter will set ticket prices and retain all ticket revenue for the concert. The promoter will be responsible for artist contracting, promoting, managing, staffing, and paying all performance fees/expenses for a concert that features Native American, Metis, Inuit, or Indigenous artists. The promoter will be required to admit up to 30 Aboriginal Music Week festival holders to the concert and provide Aboriginal Music Manitoba with at least 30 concert tickets for sponsors and promotions.

Aboriginal Music Manitoba will provide the following production and marketing support:
• Venue rental fee (includes PA and sound tech, but not backline)
• Event security
• Graphic design for the concert poster, ticket, and event signage with the promoter identified as the presenting partner (the poster must fit with the festival branding and include all festival sponsors)
• Printing for the concert poster, ticket, and event signage
• $1000 in radio ad time dedicated to the concert
• Inclusing of the concert in the festival program, website, and marketing campaign

NOTE: The promoter can't bring on additional partners/sponsors for the concert- Aboriginal Music Week's contribution will represent the sole partner/sponsor contribution to the concert.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must:
• Have a music-related business registered in Canada
• Have experience promoting concerts that feature Native American, Metis, Inuit, or Indigenous artists
• Have a Facebook profile, Twitter profile, and sizable email network
• Have financial management skills and the ability to manage risks
• Attend the concert (you will be responsible for your own travel and accomodations if you don't live in Winnipeg)
• Be willing and able to enter into a legal contract with Aboriginal Music Manitoba for the concert

• One-page business profile that identifies your business name, promotion team members (names and roles), the number of friends and/or fans your team has on Facebook, the number of followers your team has on Twitter, and a short description what your business does.
• A list of the concerts that you have promoted in the last 24 months (list the concert title, date, venue, city, and attendence for each concert).
• Digital copies of the posters or flyers that you have used to promote your last three concerts.
• Your contact information (full name, mailing address, phone number, email, and website).
• Your plan and budget for the concert (the artists you plan to book, what you plan to charge, how many tickets you think you can sell, your budget, and your backup plan in case you don't hit your ticket sales targets).
