We're working with the North Point Douglas Women's Centre (NPDWC) to produce a full afternoon of free entertainment for families at the Austin Street Festival on Friday, August 26. The stage will be set up at the corner of Austin Street and Lorne Avenue and the performances begin at 1:00 pm.
We're working with Treaty One Nation to present Gurlz Gurlz Gurlz on the mainstage at the first annual Anishinabe Days, which is set for Saturday, August 20 at the Assiniboia Downs. The day-long festival features a talent show and concert, a traditional pow wow, a mocassin games tournament, and an Indigenous marketplace and admission is completely free.
The sākihiwē festival is kicking off its outreach concert series with a collaborative performance lead by music director MJ Dandeneau. The group, which includes pow wow step music producer Boogey The Beat, singer/songwriters Ila Barker and Sierra Noble, hip hop crooner Sebastian Gaskin, and hoop dancer Shanley Spence will perform under the "sākihiwē travellers" banner at the Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park on Thursday, July 11, 2019.
