RayTheNihilist

RaytheNihilist is an award-nominated Indigenous Hip Hop artist from the Kainai Nation (The Blood Tribe), currently based in Saskatoon, SK on Treaty 6 territory. He fuses rap with storytelling and Indigenous culture to explore themes of resilience, identity, and the complexities of being Indigenous in today’s world. His work aims to inspire disconnected youth by revitalizing language and traditional motifs through modern hip-hop, creating a space that is both culturally rich and accessible. Committed to fostering healthy environments through art, Ray uses his music to reflect the multifaceted realities of Indigenous life with smooth, self-produced instrumentals and powerful lyrics.

In October 2024, Ray began work on his debut studio album featuring collaborations with notable Indigenous artists, with the first single, “Lose My Grip” (featuring Travis Thompson and Natasha Fisher), set to release on November 22, 2024. Over the past two years, his career has grown rapidly—performing on Junk’s “Lions Eat Goats” tour in 2022, completing three self-headlined tours across Western Canada since July 2023, and planning a cross-Canada tour for 2025 that includes all-ages shows, motivational talks, and workshops. His accolades include two nominations for Hip Hop Artist of the Year (2021 & 2025) at the Saskatchewan Music Awards and a Fans’ Choice nomination at the 2024 Saskatchewan Indigenous Music Awards.
