Five Aboriginal acts nominated for JUNO Awards

Tanya Tagaq, Tomson Highway, Digging Roots, Leela Gilday, and Crystal Shawanda have earned nominations for the 2015 JUNO Awards. The announcement was made by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences at a press conference in Toronto on January 27.
Tagaq leads the charge for Aboriginal artists with nominations in the Alternative Album of the Year and Aboriginal Album of the Year categories. Her producer, Jesse Zubot, is also nominated for Producer of the Year for his work on Animism.
Highway, Digging Roots, Gilday, and Shawanda have albums in the running for Aboriginal Album of the Year.

The 2015 JUNO Award winners will be announced at two ceremonies in Hamilton, Ontario in mid-March. The televised award show will air on Sunday, March 15, on CTV and CTV GO from Hamilton’s FirstOntario Centre.
