Three of our northern relatives anchor the second episode of Honour Song
Honour Song – Episode 2: Tribute to Susan Aglukark (English)
Throat-singing duo PIQSIQ will pay tribute to the esteemed Susan Aglukark in the second episode of Honour Song. Presented by the sākihiwē festival and the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom (opens in new tab), the hour‐long exchange will broadcast for free on the sākihiwē festival’s YouTube and Facebook channels on November 3 at 7:00 p.m. GMT / 1:00 p.m. CDT (set a YouTube reminder (opens in new tab) / RSVP on Facebook (opens in new tab)).
The episode includes performances by Susan Aglukark and PIQSIQ along with a conversation touching on the Inuit experience in Canada and the potential boundaries of Inuit music innovation.
"Susan Aglukark is a legend in Canada and definitely worthy of all the awards and praise she has received," explains Alan Greyeyes, Festival Director of the sākihiwē festival. "PIQSIQ have personal ties to Susan, but I feel like they put different energy out into the world, so I'm curious to see if Tiffany and Inuksuk (of PIQSIQ) have felt the need to blaze their own trails."
iskwē paid tribute to the iconic Kinnie Starr in the first episode of Honour Song. We'll be announcing trailblazers for the third and fourth episodes in the following weeks.

Le duo de chant de gorge PIQSIQ rendra hommage à la prestigieuse Susan Aglukark dans le deuxième épisode de la Chanson d’honneur. "Susan Aglukark est une légende au Canada et mérite sans aucun doute tous les prix et les louanges qu'elle a reçus", explique Alan Greyeyes, directeur du festival sākihiwē. "PIQSIQ a des liens personnels avec Susan, mais j'ai l'impression qu'ils dégagent une énergie différente, donc je suis curieux de voir si Tiffany et Inuksuk (de PIQSIQ) ont ressenti le besoin de tracer leur propre chemin."
