We’re working with Manitoba Music, the Indigenous Music Development Program, and the Embassy of Canada to Mexico to host a free webinar on Zoom about the Indigenous music scene in Mexico. The discussion will be anchored by Indigenous music champion Mardonio Carballo, and Indigenous people working in the music industry are encouraged to register.

About Mardonio Carballo
Nahua activist Mardonio Carballo is a poet, journalist, editor, actor, broadcaster, producer, and translator who has been recognized by multiple state and academic institutions for his efforts to revitalize and celebrate Indigenous languages in Mexico.
In a recent interview with René Esaú Sánchez for asymptotejournal.com (October 16, 2024), Mardonio explained, “When people romanticize languages, they only want to learn the language but not the worldview that comes with it. But if you truly immerse yourself in a language, you’ll end up adopting that way of seeing the world, because that world was named through that language."
