Indigenous North America at SXSW 2015
Astronomar, Tanya Tagaq, Scatter Their Own, Sihasin, and John Trudell have official showcases at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas (March 17-22). This major festival provides opportunities for artists to connect with media, labels, agents, managers, publishers, presenters, and music supervisors.
Indigenous artists have participated in SXSW for years, but this year’s lineup features support from prominent industry figures, including Mad Decent (Diplo’s label), the World Music Expo (WOMEX), and RYOT, which will help boost their exposure.
Rising artist and Aboriginal Music Week 2014 performer Logan Staats is also attending SXSW this year. Follow his journey on his Facebook page.
