sākihiwē + Wahkohtowin Families workshops set for August

The sākihiwē festival's workshops will continue into August with more free performances and fun activities for families and fans of live music. The series will stream on the festival's YouTube channel and Facebook page every Wednesday, beginning on August 5.

Throat singing duo PIQSIQ will kick off the workshop series with a performance on August 5, followed by a powwow fit class with hoop dancer Shanley Spence on August 12; Métis dance lessons with the Ivan Flett Memorial Dancers on August 19; and, hand drum song lessons with Fawn Wood on August 26. The Wahkohtowin Strengthening Families Program is the presenting partner for the workshop series and Ila Barker is on board to host each broadcast.
