- Winnipeg's Most hitting the road for Western Canadian tour Winnipeg's Most is hitting the road for the first tour of Western Canada. The route includes 17 dates, starting with a kick off in Winnipeg on March 23.
- Kitigan Zibi School receives $10,000 MusiCounts grant The Kitigan Zibi School in Maniwaki, Quebec recently hosted a traditional feast and acknowledged the support of the MusiCounts Band Aid program along with the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). The school received a $10,000 grant to purchase a variety of instruments, including acoustic and electric guitars, a keyboard, an electronic drum set and amplifiers.

- Gary Farmer hits the road with new album Bluesman Gary Farmer is currently touring to promote his latest release, entitled Under the Water Tower. The disc includes 11 new songs and the tour includes 21 concerts in New Mexico, California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Nebraska.
- Aboriginal nominees set to take JUNOFest by storm Murray Porter, Bruthers of Different Muthers, Flying Down Thunder and Rise Ashen, Donny Parenteau, and Randy Wood are set to take JUNOFest 2012 by storm. All five Aboriginal Album of the Year nominees will perform at the Cafe Dekcuf (221 Rideau Street) in Ottawa from 9pm-1130pm on Friday, March 30.
- A Tribe Called Red debut set for March 27 release A Tribe Called Red are set to release a self-titled debut next month. The disc will feature their songs that sample the Northern Cree singers, the General Generations track they produced alongside UCLA's ethnomusicology department, and seven other new school pow wow dance records.

- Call for Submissions - Aboriginal Music Week 2012 SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Wednesday, January 11, 2012 (in office – not post marked) Aboriginal Music Manitoba will be producing the fourth annual Aboriginal Music Week in Winnipeg from October 30 - November 4, 2012 and the organization is currently accepting applications from Aboriginal and Native American recording artists for performance spots.
- Can't stop, won't stop - Hip Hop Night at AMW Winnipeg's Most take the reigns of Aboriginal Music Week on Wednesday, November 2 for Hip Hop Night presented by Digital Drum.ca. The 2010 APCMA runaways headline this all ages concert at the West End Cultural Centre, with Broadway Neighbourhood Centre's JR Just TV and Regina's The Local Onlyz kicking off the night at 730pm sharp.
- Get ready to "Take the Fort!" on Tuesday night! Aboriginal Music Week starts with a bang on Tuesday, November 1 with "Take the Fort! presented by Grassroots News" at the West End Cultural Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Métis fiddle legends John Arcand and Darren Lavallee bring the music, while The Métis Club Traditional Dancers and fan favorites Slick & Lil' J bring the square dancing.
