We're working with the North End Community Renewal Corporation (NECRC) to present Don Amero, Morgan Grace, Tinge, and the Studio 393 Dance Troupe at the 25th annual Picnic in the Park celebration in Winnipeg's St. John's Park on Saturday, August 23. The festivities will run from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm and the site will play host to bouncy castles, the Winnipeg Jets' ball hockey installation, community information stations, and an Indigenous marketplace curated by the sākihiwē festival.
We're working with the North Point Douglas Women's Centre to present Brandi Vezina, Tinge, the Mason Sisters Hoop Dancers, and youth from Studio 393 at the Austin Street Festival on Friday, August 22, 2025. The sākihiwē festival stage will be set up on the corner of Austin Street and Lorne Avenue and the NPDWC will have a free BBQ, activity stations for kids, community information stations, and portable toilets set up between Euclid Avenue and Selkirk Avenue from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
We're working with the Assiniboine Park Conservancy to present a night of Métis jigging with the Norman Chief Memorial Dancers, the Interlake Steppers, and the Kinew Youth Dancers. The performance will run from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Thursday, July 31 at the Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park and the evening is completely free.
We're working with the Hey Cuzzin committee to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with a free concert and breakfast at the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre in Winnipeg on Friday, June 20. The programming will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm; everything will begin with a pipe ceremony; and we have performances by Inuit throat singers, hoop dancers, and Métis jiggers planned.
The second annual Tkaronto Music Festival is set for May 21-23 and the sākihiwē festival is on board as the presenting partner for Don Amero's performance on opening night. Everything will broadcast for free on Facebook and YouTube and the full schedule is available at tkmf.ca.
The sākihiwē festival is kicking off June with a new outreach series that includes free workshops for families and free songwriter concerts for music lovers around the globe. The program will run every Wednesday and stream online for free from the festival's YouTube channel and Facebook page.
