- Native artists headed to SXSW Yelawolf, A Tribe Called Red, hip hop producer 2oolman, indie rockers Federal Lights, and Scatter Their Own are heading to Austin, Texas for South by Southwest (SXSW), March 11-16, 2014. The annual event is dubbed as one of the biggest global music market places on Earth and each year artists from around the world attend in hopes of generating media buzz, booking tours, and signing business deals.
- Inez Jasper, A Tribe Called Red confirmed for JUNOfest Inez Jasper, A Tribe Called Red, Desiree Dorion, Federal Lights, and Amanda Rheaume are among the first group of performers announced for JUNOfest in Winnipeg on March 28 and 29. The two-day music festival is one part of the 2014 JUNO Week Events scheduled for March 24-30.
- Aboriginal Music Week presenting Cassidy Mann at Manitoba Music on Ice Aboriginal Music Week will be one of nine festivals and presenters hosting free mini-concerts on Winnipeg's Assiniboine River during the Louis Riel Day weekend this month. The performances are set for Sunday, February 16 from 1 - 4 p.m. and will take place in warming huts along the Red River Mutual Trail.
- Six Aboriginal artists earn noms for the 2014 JUNO Awards A Tribe Called Red, Desiree Dorion, Inez Jasper, George Leach, Amanda Rheaume, and Nathan Cunningham nabbed nominations for the 2014 JUNO Awards. The announcement was made by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences at a press conference in Toronto on February 4.
- The Winnipeg Folk Festival's winter concert series The Winnipeg Folk Festival has four great concerts featuring Aboriginal artists all set to go for its winter series. Don Amero, Nick Sherman, A Tribe Called Red with Kinnie Starr, and Buffy Sainte-Marie will take the stage at the Folk Exchange, Union Sound Hall, and West End Cultural Centre in the next couple of months.
- New York City showcases set for January 10 to 13 Tanya Tagaq, Martha Redbone, Laura Ortman, Leela Gilday, and Indian City are set to showcase for music presenters from around the world during the Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference (APAP|NYC) in New York City this weekend. The showcases kick off on January 10 and include sets at DROM, the Apollo Theatre, the National Museum of the American Indian, and Glasslands Gallery.
- The Indigenous Top Three 'Tis the season for year end lists and we got our first annual "Indigenous Top Three" all set to go. The Aboriginal Music Manitoba board and a number of our artistic brothers and sisters have identified their favourite songs released by Indigenous artists in the last 12-or-so-months to help you discover some great new music.
- Aboriginal Sounds at Mundial Montreal George Leach, A Tribe Called Red, Tanya Tagaq, Leela Gilday, Samian, Shauit, and Eekwol are set to showcase at the third edition of Mundial Montreal. The conference runs November 19 to 22 and it provides an opportunity for these artists to connect with some of the most sought-after programmers and tastemakers from across Canada, the U.S. and Europe.
- Winnipeg Boyz release Ab Initio Winnipeg Boyz released their debut album, Ab Initio, on November 5, 2013. The disc features 15 tracks by former Winnipeg's Most members Jon-C and Charlie Fettah with music by Stomp, 2oolman, and Boogey The Beat.
- Grammy nonimated drum group releases eighth album Bear Creek released its eighth album on October 24. The disc, entitled Kaagige - “Foreverâ€, is on the Canyon Records imprint and it includes 16 songs recorded live at the 2012 Rocky Boy Pow Wow in Montana.
