- LightningCloud embarking on Southwestern tour LightningCloud is hitting the road this month for an 11 date tour across the Southwestern United States. The tour includes stops in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, Coachella, Tempe, Cortez, Santa Fe, and will conclude with three gigs during the legendary Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque.
- A Tribe Called Red releases "Sisters" music video A Tribe Called Red has released their very first music video from their award winning Nation II Nation album. Much Music, Canada's #1 destination for music videos, provided the television premier of the video on April 8.
- Federal Lights, Don Amero at TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival The TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival announced the lineup for it's 25th anniversary festival on April 5 and Federal Lights, Jodie Borle, Renée Lamoureux, and Don Amero are in the mix. The festival is set for June 12-22 in Winnipeg and John Legend, St. Vincent, Shad, James Cotton, and Watermellon Slim are some of the festival headliners this year. Federal Lights and Borle are participating in the free outdoor programming at Old Market Square, while Lamoureux and Amero are at the Winnipeg Free Press News Café for a ticketed concert.
- Ten Aboriginal acts to catch at JUNOfest Inez Jasper, A Tribe Called Red, Winnipeg Boyz, Leonard Sumner, George Leach, Cassidy Mann, marijosée, Desiree Dorion, Amanda Rheaume, and Federal Lights will be performing at JUNOfest in Winnipeg this weekend. The Aboriginal artist showcases are set for Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at the Folk Exchange, The Park Theatre, The Exchange Event Centre, Whiskey Dix, and Le Garage Café.
- Leonard Sumner, George Leach to join A Tribe Called Red at JUNOfest Leonard Summer, George Leach, Cassidy Mann, Marijosée, Winnipeg Boyz, Inez Jasper, A Tribe Called Red, Desiree Dorion, Federal Lights, and Amanda Rheaume round out the Aboriginal artists set to perform at JUNOfest in Winnipeg at the end of March. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) plans to announce the full festival details in the next week, but we already have the Aboriginal showcase location and lineup information.
- Indigenous Music Without Borders mixtape, Volume 1 Aboriginal Music Week is proud to introduce the "Indigenous Music Without Borders" mixtape series. The idea is to share some of the great music being made by Indigenous folks around the world, in almost every genre.
- Native artists headed to SXSW Yelawolf, A Tribe Called Red, hip hop producer 2oolman, indie rockers Federal Lights, and Scatter Their Own are heading to Austin, Texas for South by Southwest (SXSW), March 11-16, 2014. The annual event is dubbed as one of the biggest global music market places on Earth and each year artists from around the world attend in hopes of generating media buzz, booking tours, and signing business deals.
- Inez Jasper, A Tribe Called Red confirmed for JUNOfest Inez Jasper, A Tribe Called Red, Desiree Dorion, Federal Lights, and Amanda Rheaume are among the first group of performers announced for JUNOfest in Winnipeg on March 28 and 29. The two-day music festival is one part of the 2014 JUNO Week Events scheduled for March 24-30.
- Aboriginal Music Week presenting Cassidy Mann at Manitoba Music on Ice Aboriginal Music Week will be one of nine festivals and presenters hosting free mini-concerts on Winnipeg's Assiniboine River during the Louis Riel Day weekend this month. The performances are set for Sunday, February 16 from 1 - 4 p.m. and will take place in warming huts along the Red River Mutual Trail.
- Six Aboriginal artists earn noms for the 2014 JUNO Awards A Tribe Called Red, Desiree Dorion, Inez Jasper, George Leach, Amanda Rheaume, and Nathan Cunningham nabbed nominations for the 2014 JUNO Awards. The announcement was made by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences at a press conference in Toronto on February 4.
