- Aboriginal Sounds at Mundial Montreal George Leach, A Tribe Called Red, Tanya Tagaq, Leela Gilday, Samian, Shauit, and Eekwol are set to showcase at the third edition of Mundial Montreal. The conference runs November 19 to 22 and it provides an opportunity for these artists to connect with some of the most sought-after programmers and tastemakers from across Canada, the U.S. and Europe.
- Winnipeg Boyz release Ab Initio Winnipeg Boyz released their debut album, Ab Initio, on November 5, 2013. The disc features 15 tracks by former Winnipeg's Most members Jon-C and Charlie Fettah with music by Stomp, 2oolman, and Boogey The Beat.
- Grammy nonimated drum group releases eighth album Bear Creek released its eighth album on October 24. The disc, entitled Kaagige - “Foreverâ€, is on the Canyon Records imprint and it includes 16 songs recorded live at the 2012 Rocky Boy Pow Wow in Montana.
- 2014 JUNO Awards calling for Aboriginal Album of the Year submissions The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced that the JUNO Awards is now accepting submissions for Aboriginal Album of the Year (sponsored by Aboriginal Peoples Television Network). The early bird submission deadline is October 23, 2013. The final submission deadline is November 13, 2013.
- Aboriginal Music Week 2014 dates announced Aboriginal Music Week 2014 will run Wednesday, August 20 to Sunday, August 24 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The five day music festival will include six free outdoor concerts, an open mic, an artist and industry networking reception, workshops for youth, and a couple bigger nightclub concerts.

- Aboriginal Music Week 2013: The week in review Aboriginal Music Week 2013 was really fun. We moved to August, we produced our first outdoor concerts, we enhanced our networking reception, new sponsors and partners joined the team, we added a fashion show to the festival, we hosted our first press conference, we presented artists from Mexico and Australia for the first time, and attendance grew by 1,478 people.
- Call for Submissions: Aboriginal Music Week 2014 SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Wednesday, November 6, 2013 Aboriginal Music Manitoba will be producing the sixth annual Aboriginal Music Week in Winnipeg next summer (2014 - exact dates to be confirmed) and the organization is currently accepting applications from First Nation, Inuit, Métis, Native American, and Indigenous recording artists for performance spots.
- Last day to vote for the APCMA Today is the last day to vote for your favourite artist at the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, so we thought that we should note the nominees that we have booked for our festival this year. Derek Miller, Desiree Dorion, George Leach, Ghostkeeper, and Nick Sherman racked up a combined total of 12 nominations for their most recent releases.
- New bands, fashion show added to Aboriginal Music Week 2013 Aboriginal Music Week is proud to announce that JUNO Award winning bluesman George Leach, Winnipeg-based rockers The Mosquitoz, and country chanteuse Desiree Dorion have been added to the festival this year. The new additions will join the 25 other acts at one of the 10 existing concerts set for August 16th to 21st in Winnipeg.
